About Us

The Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation was initiated within the body of Gaziosmanpasa University, Tokat Health School in 2011 with the decree of the Higher Education Council, dated 23.09.2011 and numbered 6394-40970. Tokat Health School was closed on April 8, 2016, with the decree of the Council of Ministers numbered 2016/8562, and converted into a “Faculty of Health Sciences”. Our department started accepting students to the undergraduate program with the decision of the Council of Higher Education dated 20.04.2018 and numbered 11933 in the 2018-2019 academic term. There are 8 faculty members, 1 lecturer, 3 research assistants, and 1 research assistant who is continuing her doctoral education. As of the 2023-2024 Spring Semester, student admission to the Master's program has started. 

In our department, we have 3 classrooms for theoretical courses and 2 laboratory places for practical courses. The training program includes current approaches, intensive theoretical and clinical applications.

A student who graduate from the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department receive the title of “physiotherapist”.

The education period of our department is 4 years and the language of instruction is Turkish. Our undergraduate program consists of 240 ECTS courses, including common compulsory, compulsory and elective courses. Our program includes theoretical and practical courses on Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation as well as basic medicine courses. Our students go on internship in the summer of the 2nd and 3rd grade, and on clinical practice in the final year. In order to receive a bachelor’s degree, it is required to successfully complete the course of at least 240 ECTS that meet the program qualifications and have an academic average of at least 2.00 out of 4.
